Helen Marie Mehle, 100, of Woodruff, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff.
Helen was born March 7, 1912, in Austria, Hungary, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Greif) Heuer.
Helen was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a former member of Lakeland Senior Center and she was an avid card player and liked going to the casino.
She loved crocheting and making afghans and knitting scarfs and gloves for the less fortunate children.
Helen loved God and her family and will be deeply missed.
She was the beloved wife of the late Mel for more than 50 years; cherished mother of Janet (Norman) Then and Daniel (Marjorie) Mehle; precious grandmother of Ellen (Richard) Hurt, Edward Then Sr., Lauren (Kevin) Hughes, Michael (Sharon) Then, Roxann (Curt) Bersche, Diane Fritch and Russell Mehle; loving great-grandmother to Edward Jr. (Lauren) Then, Joshua Then, Kristin (Reid) Conklen, Daniel Hurt, Phillip and Michael Cazares, Adam and Austin Fritch; great-great-grandmother to Natalie Then; and “Grandma Mehle” to many!
Visitation for Helen will be held at Freidrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect Thursday, Jan. 17, 6-8 p.m., and funeral Mass will be held Friday, Jan. 18, 11 a.m., at St. Marceline Catholic Church in Schaumburg, Ill., with interment at St. Josephs Cemetery in River Grove, Ill.
