Lukas P. “Luke” Kaup, 38, of Dodgeville, passed away Friday March 8, 2013, at UW Health Hospital in Madison.

He was born July 18, 1974, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Larry (Christine) Kaup of Menasha, and Debra Schaeve (Sleeper), partner Mike Newburgh of Montello.

He graduated high school in 1992 from Lakeland Union High School, Minocqua. He graduated from college in 2002 from North Central Technical College with a CIS-Programmer/Analyst Associate Degree. He was currently employed at All-Pro Software in Mineral Point.

Luke will be most remembered for his love of soccer. He was passionate about being a soccer coach and spent much of his time preparing soccer lessons, painting lines and making sure all kids were able to enjoy the game he loved. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with his sons and friends fishing, hunting, hiking, skiing, bowling and golfing. He was a loving husband, an amazing father and a role model for so many.

Luke is survived by his wife, Amy Kaup; his sons, Damian, Adam and Brandon; his siblings, Zachary Kaup, of Spokane, Wash., Kaitlin (Derek) Rinabarger, of Prairie du Sac, and Colin Ecker (partner Chastity), of Fond du Lac; his sister-in-law, Melanie (David) Fisher; his brothers-in-law, Todd Nelson (partner Kasey Schill), Travis Schenzel and Mitchell Schenzel; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Florence Kaup, Jerome and Geraldine Sleeper, Allan Hanke and his nephew, Zander (Alexander) Schenzel.

A Celebration of Life for Luke will be held from Saturday, March 16, 1-4 p.m., at the Gorgen-McGinley & Ayers Funeral Home in Dodgeville, where a Service of Memories will be held at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to an education fund to be set up for Luke’s three sons.
