Vermitta M. Rapant walked with Alzheimer’s for 20 years. Home with Jesus and her husband, John J.; parents, Vermitta and Ed; grandparents, Maude and Ben; and sister, Elaine, on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 93 years. Loving mother of John Rapant Jr. and Vermitta Ann “Mitzi” Rapant. Also survived by other relatives, friends and classmates.

DeeDee worked at Woolworth’s Dime Store for three years and was a crossing guard at Lincoln School, retiring after 37 years, both in Cudahy. She received a special commendation as “The 12 Who Care” from Channel 12 for her contributions to community life in Wisconsin. She enjoyed spending time in Manitowish Waters with her grandmother and mother, owning part of the island and the mainland on Stone Lake.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 29, 4-7 p.m., at the Molthen-Bell & Sons funeral home, South Milwaukee, with funeral service at 7 p.m. Interment will be at Pinelawn Cemetery in Manitowish Waters Tuesday, April 2, 1 p.m.
