Dorothy J. Howland, 97, passed peacefully to Eternal Life with family at her side Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in Baraboo, formerly of Boulder Junction. She was born on May 31, 1915, in Baraboo the daughter of Hendrichs and Charlotte (Smith) Yoss.
When she moved back to Baraboo from Boulder Junction, she enjoyed sharing her love of reading, playing cards and teaching others the art of playing cards, helping nieces and nephews to cook their first meals – scrambled eggs was a favorite. Most importantly she taught all those that knew her how to be a good person. She will be missed and always remembered.
She is survived by her sister, Kathryn F. (William) Salter, and Dan Marquardt, great nephew who was like a son to her, both of Monona, and many more nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John V. Howland, her brother, Edward Yoss, and her sister “Betty” (Harold) Kunzelman.
Family and friends will gather later this spring in a celebration of Dorothy’s life.
