Rita Mary Diamond Oxley, 85, passed away, Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill, where she located in 1999.
Rita was born July 22, 1927, in Stevens Point, the daughter of Dan and Irene (Brill) Diamond. She moved to Woodruff where she raised her four daughters with her husband, Tom, who preceded her in death Nov. 8, 2011.
Rita worked at Simpsons Electric, was a housewife, and her last job was at Paul Bunyan’s Gift Shop. Rita’s true joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. All that knew Rita loved her sense of humor, her ability to listen and most of all her ability to love.
Rita is survived by her four daughters, Anietta (Bob) Allen of Grand Forks, N.D., Diana (Bob) Kirschling of Stevens Point; Katie (Charlie) Eternicka of Woodruff, and Lauriel (Scott) Arneson of Merrill; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 5, at 11 a.m. at the Nimsgern Funeral Home Chapel in Woodruff, with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery followed by a luncheon back at the funeral home.
A simple memorial service will also take place at Bell Tower Residence at a later date for those who grew to know and love Rita here in Merrill.
