Gerald “Gerry” Laskowski, 77, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at his residence in Minocqua under the care of Dr. Kate Home Hospice.
Gerry was born July 31, 1936, in Milwaukee to his parents, Benjamin and Estelle (LaSota) Laskowski. He was on the City of Milwaukee Police Force until he retired as Sergeant in 1989. Gerry was also the co-founder of M&L Grinding in Brookfield in 1981. Gerry has been a part-time resident of the Minocqua area since 1967 and moved there permanently 15 years ago. Gerry enjoyed being outdoors, loved his pets and worked hard all of his life.
Gerry was a loving father to his four children, Laura (Russell) Szpot, Beth Ann (George) Connelly, Ben Laskowski and Gerald Laskowski, Jr., and his four grandchildren, Amanda Laskowski, Abigail “What’s Her Name” Laskowski, Joseph Connelly and Lily “The Other One” Laskowski.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Estelle; and two brothers, Richard and Donald.
According to Gerry’s wishes, his family will hold a private gathering at a later date.
The family would like to extend a personal thank you to all of his friends and neighbors who helped their dad through his extended illness; and also extend a thank you to the staff at Dr. Kate Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.
