Audrey Zastrow, 82, Minocqua, (most recently a resident of Fox Lake, Ill., passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, in her new Illinois home.
Audrey was born in Mercer to Stanley and Florence Kountney, one of four children. Her journey continued as she spent her early years in the Milwaukee-Grafton-Waubeka areas enjoying working, crafting, and tending to her flowers while bringing up her children.
Her retirement years were spent in the Northwoods of Minocqua, which she loved immensely. One of her biggest passions in life was spending the day on the golf course which as quoted by her grandson, “was the funniest and most positive person to golf with.” She was a unique person in so many ways … endearing to all, honest, vivacious and always happy with the uncanny ability to make friends with someone she had known for as little as five minutes. The most irrelevant situations were instantly fun and memorable with Audrey around.
She is survived by one daughter, Darlene Jaffke of Libertyville, Ill., (John); one son, Bill Zastrow (Zeidi) of Maui, Hawaii; four grandchildren, Brad Jaffke of Seattle, Wash., Kelly Jaffke of Columbus, Ohio, Erin Jaffke of Libertyville, Ill., and Nicole Jaffke of Libertyville, Ill.; one sister, Donna Hauck (Bill) of Oshkosh; and one brother-in-law, Wally Zastrow of Menasha.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in September 2004; and two brothers, Leroy and Stanley, Jr.
Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, 11:30 a.m., at United Methodist Church of the Pines, Minocqua.
Please join the family in celebrating Audrey’s life at a lunch reception immediately following the service at the church in Fellowship Hall.
