Gregory “Greg” G. Hanke

Gregory “Greg” G. Hanke, 55, Rib Lake, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, 10:25 p.m., at the House of the Dove, Marshfield, where he had been a resident for the past two weeks; surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.

Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, 11 a.m., at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake.

Father Otto Bucher and Father Dennis Meulemans will officiate.

Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Rib Lake.

Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 11, 4-7:00 p.m., at Hemer Funeral Home, Rib Lake, with a 6:45 p.m. prayer service; also from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake.

Gregory was born Aug. 13, 1958, at Medford. He graduated from Rib Lake High School and was married Sept. 29, 1984, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Rib Lake, to Cindy A. McNamara. She survives.

After high school, Gregory drove for United Van Lines for a period of time. He then drove transport for Fermanich Fuel Company of Antigo for a number of years. Gregory then took over the family business of Hanke Oil Company in Rib Lake for 24 years. He loved being outdoors and going to the cabin. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and being with his family and friends.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake. He served as past president of the Rib Lake Industrial Development Committee for a number of  years.

Gregory is survived by his wife, Cindy A. Hanke of Rib Lake; children, Steve (Tiffany) Hanke of Rib Lake and Keith Hanke of Westboro; two grandchildren, Trysten and McKenna Hanke of Rib Lake; two sisters, Jeanie (Dan) Lechmaier of Rib Lake and Sue (Barry) Anderson of Rib Lake; hsi mother,  Estelle (Andy) Borg of Ogema; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon F. Hanke.

Pallbearers will be Dan Lechmaier, Gary Harder, Curt Camps, Dennis McNamara, Barry Anderson, & Pat Harder

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Greg’s family to be designated at a later date. 

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake is handling the arrangements.
