Ellen L. Finch, 77, St Germain, passed away Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013.
She was under the care of her loving husband and five children with assistance from hospice.
Ellen was born in Merrill to Marjorie and Ernest Sparks Jan. 2, 1936.
Five children survive her:, Julie (John) Olson, West Bend, Lori Schwartz, Gastonia, N.C., Bruce Finch, Schofield, Robin (Brian) Bloczynski, Wauwatosa, and Brook Finch (Christi Malone), Naperville, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, John (Tracy) Olson, Eric Olson (fiancé Sara Steger), Brian Olson (fiancé Tutka), Jenny (Tom) Thrash, Heather (Bob) Hare, Jody (Kyron) Williams, Jim and Emily Bloczynski, Fin Malone and Khora Finch; and 11 great-grandchildren. Ellen is also survived by two brothers, Jim Sparks, Sebring, Fla., and Ernest Sparks, Spring Hill, Fla.; along with many nieces and nephews, friends and loving neighbors, and her loving husband, Jim.
Ellen was preceded in death by four sisters, Claire (Howard) Faultersack, Marjorie (Gaylord) Howard, Phyllis (Myles) Weber, and her twin sister, Eva (Dale) Jensen.
Ellen will be remembered for her big, beautiful smile and her loving hugs. She was a member of the Plum Lake Woman’s Club and Friends of the Plum Lake Library. She volunteered extensively in her local community, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 388 in Wausau, and was a lifetime member of Sayner’s Wildlife Club. Ellen enjoyed working on various newsletters during her life in the Northwoods and working and volunteering at the library, museum, and a number of other locations. Her craftwork was well known by many.
The family would like to thank the kind care given by the Marshfield Clinic in Minocqua and by hospice. A special thank you to all the many wonderful neighbors and friends for their love and support.
Ellen’s remains will be cremated by Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home.
Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 5, 11 a.m., at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 5030 Highway 70 West, Eagle River, WI, 54521.
