Richard L. Carlson, 84, of South Beloit, Ill., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.
He was born June 14, 1929 in Rockford to Axel R. and Lilly (Anderson) Carlson. He graduated from East High School in 1946. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in February, 1951 and served in combat in Korea.
He married Marianne Harris on June 16, 1956. He was an active member of Christ Methodist Church until 1987 and then of the Community Church of Boulder Junction. He retired in 1984 from Sundstrand Aviation. He summered in Boulder Junction where he was active in Lions and Ducks Unlimited. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by wife, Marianne; children, Ken (Karshan) Carlson of Vinton, Iowa and Karen (Roger) Cederholm; sister, Dolores Cox of Spanaway, Wash.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Boulder Junction in June. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Beloit Regional Hospice, 655 Third Street, Suite 200, Beloit, WI 53511.
