Barbara Kaye Mangold

Barbara Kaye Mangold, 73, of Burlington, passed away peacefully Monday, May 26, 2014, at home surrounded by her loving family, after a 4-½ year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. 

Barb was born Sept. 6, 1940, in Eagle River, a daughter of Wilbert and Barbara Alt. She was the youngest of seven children and spent most of her childhood in Boulder Junction. Barb graduated from Lakeland High School, Minocqua.

She was married to James Allen Mangold Jr. on May 21, 1960, in Boulder Junction at St. Anne’s Catholic Church and relocated to Burlington. Barb was a hardworking, vibrant, intelligent and caring, woman who enjoyed visiting with her family and friends and loved her dogs. Throughout her life Barb enjoyed reading, traveling, shopping and spending time in her beloved north woods. Barb had a beautiful singing voice and was involved with the Sweet Adeline’s for many years. She was also active in the family insurance business until her retirement. 

Barb will be deeply missed by her husband James, Children; Roberta (David) Quist, Davenport, Iowa, Laurie (Robert) Weinhammer, Krista (Perry) Hintz, and James (Angela) Mangold III, all of Burlington. Grandchildren; Stephen, Tori, and Jonathan Quist, Nicholas and Aubrey Weinhammer, Cecilia, Jordan, and Olivia Hintz, Addison, Delaney, and Caden Mangold. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and two brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 5:00 pm at St. Charles, 440 Kendall St, Burlington. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 3-5 p.m. at St. Charles Church. Immediately following the mass there will be a celebration to honor Barb at the Cotton Exchange, 345 Hickory Hollow Rd, Waterford (Plantation Room). The Burial Service will be held at Cemetery of the Pines, 10731 Hwy K West, Boulder Junction, on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. with a luncheon following at Little Bohemia, 142 Hwy 51, Manitowish Waters.

Per Barb’s wishes, memorials can be made to St. Charles Catholic Church or St. Anne’s Catholic Church.

A very Heartfelt Thank you goes out to her family and friends for their love and continued support; the entire staff of Dr. Ben George and Dr. Douglas Evans (Froedert Hospital, Milwaukee), Dr. Melanie Smith (Aurora, Burlington), Heartland Hospice (Kenosha and Milwaukee) and Home Helpers (Burlington) for their outstanding service and care to Barb.
