William E. Hodek, 78, Arbor Vitae, died peacefully in his sleep July 3, 2014, at Seasons of Life Hospice House in Woodruff.
Bill was born October 24, 1935, in Milwaukee, to George J. and Florence E. (Guerin) Hodek. In 1949, the family moved to the Rhinelander area, where Bill grew up. He graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1954.
Bill served in the Army National Guard from 1958 to 1961. He became a correctional officer with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections in 1965 first at Green Bay Reformatory, then at Flambeau State Camp at Hawkins and finally, at McNaughton Correctional Center, Lake Tomahawk. He retired in 1990, then served as a hall monitor at Lakeland Union High School until 1999.
His is survived by Sandra, his wife of 23 years; one brother, Jim (Geraldine) Hodek, Gordon, Wis.; his stepchildren, Andy (Linda) Gee, Minocqua; Stacey (Frank) Mueller, Hales Corners, Wis., and Victor (Jessica) Gee, Woodruff; his grandchildren, Alex (Holly) Gee, Ashley Gee, Gino Mueller, Travis Gee, Cameron Gee and Emmit Gee; and one great-granddaughter, Bella Gee.
His is further survived by his sisters-in-law, Ruth Pache, Woodruff; Kathleen (Douglas) Chaulk, Canton, S.D., and four nephews, David (Teresa) Hodek, Hermantown, Minn.; Scott Hodek, Eau Claire; Darren (Jessica) Hodek, Chetek, and Devon (Jenna) Chaulk, Canton, S.D.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Bolger Funeral Chapel in Woodruff. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Seasons of Life Hospice.
