Katie Crisostomo, age 45, a resident of Aurora, Ill., passed away after a courageous battle with Lymphoma and Leukemia on Monday, May 16, 2016, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. She was born May 21, 1970 in Winfield to Elden and Judith Brown.
Katie grew up in Indianapolis and moved to Boulder Junction in 1984. She graduated from Lakeland Union High School in 1988. Sybil B. Ferguson, a long-time Minocqua resident, died Monday, May 16, in Madison. She was 97. After retiring from teaching speech at the UW-Stevens Point, she moved to Minocqua and began a new career volunteering and later working at the Northwoods Wildlife Center for nearly 20 years. During that time she also published a compilation of stories about the animals cared for at the center called Wildlife Hospital. Tuesday, May 24, 2016

Alyce Jean Cooksey, better known as Ally or Cooks, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at Howard Young Medical Center, at the age of 81. Ally was a well-known beloved teacher and resident in the Lakeland area.
Ally was born Feb. 25, 1935, in Decorah, Iowa, to Hubert and Laura (Bruette) Opsahl. She was one of five children: Helen, Joyce, Dick, and Shirley.

He went on to UW-Madison to pursue a degree in business before returning home to manage and eventually own Minocqua Furniture. She was born in Wausau on May 29, 1925 to Frank and Anna LaFave.

Pam Hoff, born in Marshfield on July 20, 1940, passed peacefully at her home on May 5, 2016. Pam, daughter of Helen and Ray Schuler, grew up in Marshfield. She married Tom Hoff and raised four children living for a period of time in Romeoville, Ill., before moving to Arbor Vitae. Robert W. Michaelsen, 97, of Presque Isle passed away May 5, 2016, at Avanti Health and Rehabilitation Center in Minocqua.
He was born in Milwaukee to Robert and Edna Michaelsen. He is survived by his son William of Presque Isle. Pray that your life could be as rewarding, fulfilling and exciting. A true patriot warrior and naturalist.
His wishes were to be cremated without any public services.

Arnold H. Rotermund, 90, went to be with his Lord on April 20, 2016. Arnie was born on Dec. 5, 1925, to Rev. Frederick and Marie (Scheiwe) Rotermund, Sigel, Wisc. He attended St. John's Lutheran for elementary school and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943. Born Nov. 19, 1930, Mike lived in Chicago until retiring to Lac du Flambeau in 1995. He was predeceased by his parents, Mercurio and Augustine, and his three brothers Salvatore, Vincent, and Dominic. Thomas Arnold Barrett, 72, at the Rennes Health and Rehab, in Rhinelander, died in his sleep on April, 17, 2016. Tom lived at 618 Vernon, Glencoe, Ill., for over 35 years and also had a summer cottage in the Northwoods of Wisconsin on Annabelle Lake. Tom had the heart and soul of a writer. He was an accomplished writer, editor, and producer and had his own business called, Tom Barrett Productions. One of the highlights of his career is that he wrote, directed and produced a movie with Mike Ditka after the great Chicago Bears 1985 season called, "Are You Satisfied?". Friday, May 6, 2016
Nancy Turley Wickstrom, died on April 19, 2016 at Kirby Medical Center. She was born on Oct. 14, 1935 in Peoria, Ill., to Meade Walton Turley and Louise Enslow Turley. Elizabeth May Sorensen, age 79 of Minocqua, died on Sunday, April 24 at her residence on Blue Lake with her daughters by her side. Elizabeth, as she was known by her siblings, was the fourth of six children and the oldest girl. She lived in Webster Groves, Mo., and until three years ago continued to attend all of her high school reunions.
