Diane Chart, 51, Winchester, was killed in a multi-vehicle accident Saturday night in Greenfield, a suburb of Milwaukee.
Chart was the executive director of the Northwoods Wildlife Center in Minocqua.
Two others, a 19-year-old and 15-year-old, were transported to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa where they were reported in critical condition.
An article in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel attributed Greenfield Police Capt. Michael Brunner saying that Chart was driving a Toyota Corolla north on S. 27th Street when she turned left in front of a southbound Dodge truck at West Coldspring Road at about 5:10 p.m.
The collision, according to Brunner, resulted in the knocking down of a stoplight that crashed into a third vehicle that was stopped at the intersection.
The published report stated that Chart wasn’t breathing and had no pulse at the scene, but emergency personnel were able to revive her. She died later at Froedtert Hospital.
The driver of the truck was a 70-year-old Milwaukee woman who was taken to another hospital after complaining of head, neck and back pain, Brunner said. She was treated and released.
The accident remains under investigation and, according to the published report, neither alcohol nor excessive speed were a factor. All involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts.
