An apparent water main break in the area near the St. Matthias Thrift Store in Minocqua will be repaired Friday.
Ron Groth, the superintendent for Lakeland Sanitary District, said it’s thought to be a break because of a leak.
“We won’t be sure until we open up the road there,” he said. “There was water coming up right in that area, kind’ve in front of the thrift shop over on Front Street.”
The work will require water to be shut off for approximately four hours, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m, for most of the businesses and homes immediately around the area where the repairs will be made.
That includes about a two-block area.
“Hopefully, it’ll be turned back on sooner,” Groth said. “It’s kind’ve hard to pinpoint when you don’t know exactly what you have down there and what the problem is.”
He said the area of town that will be without water during the repairs is a two-block area along East Front Street, down Menomonie Street and Milwaukee Street.
