On Saturday, May 10, at approximately 1:31 p.m., the Oneida County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call that 15-month-old Kaleb Kennedy had gone missing at a residence located on River Bend Road in the Town of Pelican.
Kennedy's mother was outside with the child along with another sibling. The mother went inside to change over the laundry and came back outside but could not locate Kaleb. The Pelican River runs along the backyard of the residence.
Oneida County deputies, Rhinelander Police Department, Pelican Fire Department, Newbold Fire Department, Oneida County EMS, Oneida County Dive Team and search dogs were dispatched to the residence.
An Oneida County deputy located Kaleb in the river downstream from the residence at 2:05 p.m. The child was immediately transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital, but was pronounced dead at 3:03 p.m.
The Oneida County Sheriff's Office and Oneida County Medical Examiner's Office are continuing an investigation.
