Road crews last week replaced 17 sections of a new sidewalk along the U.S. Highway 51 causeway in Minocqua.
The sections had to be replaced because cracks formed during the course of construction activities last fall, according to Kristin McHugh, a spokesperson from the state Department of Transportation.
The sidewalk is concrete, but dyed and stamped to mimic the brick sidewalks in downtown Minocqua.
Taxpayers do not have to pay for the replacement work, McHugh said. Instead, the contractor that originally installed the sidewalk is responsible for the cost.
