John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Brandon Vetterneck, 27, Lac du Flambeau, was sentenced Friday by U.S. District Judge Barbara B. Crabb to 40 months in prison for distributing Oxycodone. Vetterneck pleaded guilty to this charge on April 2, 2014.
In April 2013, confidential informants separately purchased, on two occasions, Oxycodone from Vetterneck at a residence he shared with his mother, Lois. Lois Vetterneck has also been indicted and she pleaded guilty on April 2, 2014. Her sentencing is scheduled for June 10, 2014.
In denying Vetterneck’s request for a two-year sentence, Judge Crabb noted that Vetterneck had been distributing Oxycodone on the Lac du Flambeau reservation since 2009 and that he has a criminal history that spans 19 years.
The charges against Brandon Vetterneck were the result of an investigation conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation; the Lac du Flambeau Police Department; and the Vilas and Oneida County Sheriffs' Departments. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rita M. Rumbelow.
