Human skeletal remains found in town of Pelican identified

On Monday, June 30, at 11:42 a.m., the Oneida County Sheriff's Department was notified that a citizen found what appeared to be skeletal remains of a human in a wooded area near Lake Julia in the Town of Pelican.

The remains have been identified through dental records as Steven J. Boron, 54, of Oneida County. Boron had been reported as an absconder from probation/parole in May of 2013. Initial investigation indicates no signs of foul play.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office and the Oneida County Medical Examiner are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding this death.
