On Wednesday the Lac du Flambeau Public School Board approved the 2017-2018 budget to be brought to the budget presentation and annual meeting.
This year the total tax levy is $6,443,814. The levy rate is .00728 or $7.28 per $1,000 in property value.
To keep the tax levy down superintendent Larry Ouimette reduced the community service fund from $125,000 in the past two years to $50,000 for the 2017-2018 budget.
"Our community service fund, $50,000, and you can see that there's a drop in that and the reason that I dropped that number one, we still have money left over from last year and that fund so we'll almost be at $125,000 when we add the $50,000 to that," Ouimette stated.
The 2016-2017 budget increased the tax levy by 1.23 percent while the 2017-2018 budget increases the tax levy by 0.49 percent.
The total budget is set at $13,485,187, down $220,532.60 from the 2016-2017 budget.
