While the Oneida County Board met for a special meeting Tuesday, one of the seats in the board’s meeting chambers remained empty.
That seat belonged to former Supervisor Gary Baier, who died Sunday.
Before taking on official business, County Clerk Mary Bartelt read a short obituary, and several supervisors reflected on Baier’s service on the board.
“He had a great deal of enthusiasm for the job and the people of Oneida County, and his family,” Supervisor David Hintz said. “We’re all going to miss Gary.”
A flower and candle sat on Baier’s desk during the meeting.
