The number of cases filed in Oneida County Circuit Court dipped to a four-year low in 2013.
According to data from the county clerk of court’s office, case filings declined by 25 percent from 2010 to 2013 – from 9,921 cases to 7,359. The decrease was consistent for all intervening years.
Civil cases had the steepest decline.
Clerk of Circuit Court Brenda Behrle said that despite the overall drop in cases, her office has seen an increased demand for help from litigants representing themselves.
