Just before 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 07, the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a vehicle driving erratically.
The motorist was reported traveling westbound through the City of Eagle River.
Eagle River Police Department responded to the incident and observed the vehicle traveling in the wrong lane of traffic and forcing other drivers off the road.
The Eagle River officer attempted to stop the vehicle using emergency lights and a siren.
After several failed attempts in stopping the vehicle, the Eagle River officer pulled their squad in front of the vehicle in attempts to protect oncoming traffic and to slow the vehicle. The vehicle rear-ended the squad causing an accident.
There were no injuries and authorities have not released names of those involved at this time.
The cause of the erratic driving was determined to be medical related.
Eagle River Police Department, Eagle River Ambulance Service and the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department responded to the incident. Vilas County authorities are investigating the incident.
