Cash flow headache on the mend for transit commission

The Vilas County Board approved a loan of $50,000 for the Oneida-Vilas Transit Commission at a meeting this past week. The loan is in conjunction with an advance of the same amount from Oneida County. The money will assist the commission with cash flow issues while waiting for funds from the federal and state government.

Times asks Vilas DA to investigate Boulder Junction Town Board
The Lakeland Times is asking the Vilas County district attorney to look into what appears to be an improper payout of almost $9,000 to the town clerk and another smaller payout to a town employee, and the newspaper has filed open-meetings complaints in both instances. (subscriber access)

Area snowmobile accidents last week result in one fatality
What may be one of the final big weekends for snowmobiling in the area this season last week began with two accidents and both on Friday.
