Vilas County Social Services met Tuesday to discuss how the recent unborn child abuse judgment decision will affect the services they can provide and the actions they can take involving pregnant women.

On April 28, a federal court in Wisconsin ruled a state law allowing the detention, forced treatment and incarceration of pregnant women as unconstitutional. (subscriber access)

Walleyes for Tomorrow banquet scheduled for June 8
The fourth annual Headwaters Basin Chapter of Walleyes for Tomorrow dinner banquet will be held on June 8 at the White Oak Grill in Manitowish Waters. Only 225 tickets will be sold for the event. Tickets are $85 and are good for dinner and into the door prize drawings. Many prize boards will be available and there is something for everyone to win.

Eastern Vilas County ATV route to open May 6
The eastern portion of the Vilas County all terrain vehicle/utility vehicle route system will officially open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 6.
