Vilas County creates full-time economic support position
The Vilas County Board of Supervisors has approved the social services department to take on another full-time economic support (FTE) employee.

CDAC recommends antlerless tags in Vilas and Oneida counties
Both Vilas and Oneida counties' County Deer Advisory Committees (CDAC) recommended some antlerless tags be available in their respective counties in last month's CDAC meetings, but Vilas County's recommendation changed at last week's final recommendation meeting. Vilas County 2016 highway budget numbers on target
Vilas County Highway Committee members received good news once again Tuesday, news related to the highway department's final budget numbers for 2016.

At the January committee meeting, the 2016 budget wasn't due to be closed out for several weeks but the department's financial services coordinator, Tom Numrich, said then overall, "things are looking pretty good." (subscriber access)

High winds cut through Oneida and Vilas counties
The recent warm weather in the area proved too good to be true as high winds wreaked havoc throughout Oneida and Vilas counties this week.

Large portions of the state experienced high winds, with Wisconsin Public Service reporting 20,300 customers without power, while having restored power to 48,000 more as of Tuesday night. (subscriber access)
