Transit commission approves 2018 budget
The Vilas-Oneida Transit Commission, which oversees the Rhinelander-based Northwoods Transit Connections, approved a proposed 2018 budget Thursday.

It will now be sent to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for approval. (subscriber access)

Child care facility closed while investigation conducted
A Vilas County daycare facility is under investigation by the state of Wisconsin.

Joe Scialfa, the communications director for the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, said a child fatality occurred at Little Tykes Playhouse on A-Ki-Wen-Si Drive near Minocqua on Sept. 26.
