County board rejects Kwik Trip offer
In a stunning development, the Oneida County Board of Supervisors voted 10-9 Tuesday to reject a Kwik Trip offer to buy the site of the county's current highway facility, essentially pulling the emergency brake on plans for a new highway department at a different location. (Subscriber access)

Town board leaves setback issue alone
During the course of a more than two-hour meeting Tuesday night, the Minocqua town board covered a lot of ground. The board decided to leave in place, at least for the time being, a town ordinance approved in 2007 that allows new construction in a section of the town's business corridor 10 feet from a public sidewalk. Boulder Junction Chamber announces new executive director
The Boulder Junction Chamber of Commerce has announced Kristen Tichacek will be the new executive director effective Aug. 3, 2015. Kristen is a local resident of the Northwoods area and a graduate of St. Norbert College in DePere, Wisconsin.

Plum Lake Volunteer Fire Department hosts training class
Recently the Plum Lake Volunteer Fire Department hosted a Natural Gas/Propane Fire Training class. This class was presented by instructors from Nicolet College, it consisted of classroom discussion as well as live fire simulated burn scenarios.

VC law enforcement committee hears from rec officer
