On Saturday, December 1st Mercer will be full of Christmas Spirit! First at 4:30p.m. there will be the wreathing of Claire d' Loon along with caroling.
Then at 5p.m. there will be a Candy Cane Parade through downtown Mercer. At that time they will present both the Candy Cane Princess and Queen. The Princess and the Queen will both be selected from a writing contest for the Mercer grade school girls and High school girls.
Following the Candy Cane Parade there will be the lighting of the Christmas Trees at 5:30p.m. at the Mercer Community Center. Along with the lighting of the Christmas tree the winner of the Christmas Tree donation contest will be able to flip the switch for all the lights on the tree(s) at the Center. For the contest, people who think they have "The Tree" for the Community Center's lighting should submit a picture of their tree (still in the ground-not cut) to: email@example.com or call 715-476-2074 by November 15. The tree that will be selected will be cut and delivered to the Community Center for the tree lighting. The tree has to be within 15-20 feet tall. Permission to cut the tree must be obtained prior to the cutting and the tree must be accessible by vehicle for the cutting. The tree contest winner will be printed in the paper.
To end the night Santa will be visiting the Community Center at 6p.m. Enjoy free cookies and refreshments as the children visit with Santa.
