The Lakeland Union High School Board of Education on Monday accepted the resignation of principal Justin Szews effective June 30.
The board thanked Szews for his 14 years of service at LUHS.
“I worked with Justin here for a number of years, the last three years as principal,” district administrator Rob Way said. “He is an excellent principal and an outstanding person, and really, it’s big shoes to fill.”
“We truly are going to miss you,” board president Gary Smith said. “I truly wish you the best and I know that you’re going to be successful no matter where you go. We really, really appreciate what you’ve done.”
Following his departure from LUHS, Szews will serve as principal for grades 7-12 at the Three Lakes School District.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with the students, staff, and communities — all 12 of them — of the Lakeland Union School District,” Szews told The Lakeland Times on April 27. “This area has a lot to be proud of in their school systems. I am really proud of what our students and staff have accomplished together.”
