Angel On My Shoulder celebrates 25th anniversary

February 18, 2020

On Feb. 21, Angel On My Shoulder proudly celebrates 25 years of touching the hearts and lives of children and families affected by cancer. Angel On My Shoulder is a Wisconsin-based non-profit organization supporting children and families experiencing cancer by providing cost-free camps to kids across the state. The organization also celebrates the fifth anniversary of Camp Hozhoni, a weekend retreat for children with cancer aged 18 and younger and their families to spend quality time together.
When Lolly Rose’s husband, Dick, passed away from cancer, she and her family sought a way to make something good out of their loss. In 1995, as a labor of love in Dick’s memory, the Angel On My Shoulder cancer support foundation was created as a way to improve the quality of life of those living with or affected by cancer. In the past 25 years, Angel On My Shoulder has touched the hearts and lives of hundreds of families and brought support and relief to cancer patients and their family members as they navigate the challenges a cancer diagnosis brings.
“It is a great personal honor and joy to know that through these 25 years, Angel On My Shoulder has become a special blessing to so many in impactful and meaningful ways,” founder Lolly Rose said. “Most importantly, I salute those living with or affected by cancer. Their strength and courage inspires me and ignites my passion to be there with them and for them. I am in awe of them. They are truly my heroes.”
Angel On My Shoulder acquired Camp Hozhoni in 2014, a special camp offering support for children 18 and under living with cancer and their families, from the American Cancer Society. This acquisition allowed Angel On My Shoulder to expand their camp options in a positive way and to embrace the needs of children with cancer and their families. Since the first offering of the camp a year later, Camp Hozhoni has created countless memories for children with cancer and brought many families closer together through a program of hands-on activities and support groups.
