Appeals court limits Oneida County’s ability to regulate piers

County has no authority to regulate piers that are exempt under state statute

While Oneida County’s ability to regulate piers more restrictively than the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has been a hot-button issue for years, the matter moved toward some resolution last week when a state appeals court struck down the county’s ability to do so.
