Archery and crossbow hunters having success

The gun hunt is just about to begin, but archer’s and crossbow hunters have been in the woods since September and so far, area hunters have been brining in some deer.

As of Nov. 19, in Oneida County, bow hunters have shot 158 bucks and 73 does for a total of 231 deer. The 2018 archery harvest was 290 total deer.

In Vilas County, bow hunters have shot 106 bucks and 19 does for a total of 125 deer. The harvest from 2018 was 202 deer. 

And in Iron County, 30 bucks and 14 does have been harvested by bow hunters for a total of 34 deer. Last year a total of 40 deer were taken by Iron County archers.

Crossbow hunters have had even more success in the field.

In Oneida County, 346 bucks and 145 does have been taken by crossbow hunters for a total of 491 deer. The total crossbow harvest from 2018 in Oneida County was 664 deer.

Vilas county crossbow hunters have shot 274 bucks and 49 doe for a total of 323 deer. The total crossbow harvest in Vilas County in 2018 was 399.

In Iron County, 94 bucks and 17 does have been harvested by crossbow hunters for a total of 111 deer. The crossbow harvest for Iron County in 2018 was 109 deer.
