Attempt to disarm deputy results in man’s arrest

A traffic stop in Arbor Vitae ended in the arrest of a St. Germain man after he called a Vilas County deputy offensive names and attempted to handcuff then disarm him of his gun, according to court reports.

Joshua J. Godfrey, 28, was reported to be driving erratically on State Highways 51 and 70, intentionally swerving into oncoming traffic and nearly hitting another car head-on around 11:30 a.m. May 25, according to the criminal complaint.
