Basket weaving class at LOLA on Jan. 24

January 07, 2020

Basket weaver Dianne Mockler returns to Land O’ Lakes Arts (LOLA) to teach the “Snack Attack Basket Weaving Class” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24.

Learn traditional basket weaving techniques, including laying out a base, weaving up the sides, rimming and lashing. The opening on the corners of this basket create space for a bandana to be used as a liner. Students will leave class with a completed basket, ready for staining and entertaining. A variety of bandanas and coordinating dyed reed will be available to choose from. Students have the option to bring a sports themed bandana of their choice.

Size of the basket is approximately 10 inches square and 5 inches tall. Cost of class is $65 for adults and teens 16 and up. Suitable for all weaving levels. Alternate date, should the class need to be rescheduled, will be Saturday, Jan. 25. Students will be notified if any changes will be made. Deadline for registration is Friday, Jan. 17.

Mockler calls the Northwoods home and shares her love of basket weaving by teaching throughout the area.

“I enjoy working with beginners because they are amazed at what they can accomplish with just one class,” Mockler said.
