Boulder Junction man in hospital following two vehicle crash

August 02, 2019 by Brian Jopek

A 50-year-old Boulder Junction man remains hospitalized in Madison following a two-vehicle crash July 23 on County Road M outside of Boulder Junction.

According to the accident report from the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office, Harvey L. Bartsch III was southbound on a Harley Davidson motorcycle and behind two other vehicles, the first a Toyota Prius driven by Lynn McKenzie, 67, Cottage Grove.

At one point, according to the report and a witness in the second vehicle, McKenzie slowed down to make a left turn, her turn signal activated.

McKenzie and the witness told the sheriff’s deputy doing the report Bartsch attempted to pass the other vehicles on the left side.

McKenzie attempted to complete her left turn when her Prius was struck by Bartsch’s motorcycle.

The report states Bartsch was at fault for passing the other two vehicles as McKenzie was signaling a left turn.
