Denim & Dessert Theatre auditions on Sept. 4

September 03, 2019

Denim & Dessert Readers’ Theatre announces auditions for the madcap comedy, “Drinking Habits” by Tom Smith. The plot revolves around nuns at the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing who have been secretly making wine to keep the convent’s doors open.

Paul and Sally, reporters and former fiancees, are hot on their trail. They go undercover as a nun and priest, but their presence, combined with the addition of a new nun, spurs paranoia throughout the convent that spies have been sent from Rome to shut them down.

Wine and secrets are inevitably spilled as everyone tries to preserve the convent and reconnect with lost loves in this laugh-out-loud farce.

Denim & Dessert is in its 16th year using scripts on stage — actors don’t memorize, they just have a good time reading and amusing the Northwoods audience.

Players are encouraged to try out for eight roles at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 4 at the Presque Isle Community Center off County B. Rehearsals are just six evenings at 6:30 p.m. with free performances Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27 and 28 at 7 p.m.

All volunteer, the group welcomes newcomers both on and off stage. Call 715-904-9063 for info or see presqueisle.com.
