Dept. of Tourism secretary-designee Sara Meaney to speak in Conover on Oct. 10

October 04, 2019

The Wisconsin Department of Tourism Secretary-designee will be the featured speaker at the 2019 Vilas County Accommodations Tour to be held on Thursday, Oct. 10, locally in Conover.

Wisconsin is America’s playground and outdoor recreation is not just big fun, it’s big business. With outdoor recreation being the leading marketable driver of tourism in Wisconsin, Department of Tourism secretary-designee Sara Meaney will outline her vision that led to the creation of the Office of Outdoor Recreation and what lies ahead.

All area businesses, accommodation owners and managers are invited to participate in this tour hosted by the Conover Chamber of Commerce, and co-sponsored by the Vilas County Tourism & Publicity Department and Vilas County Chamber of Commerce.

Accommodations in the Conover area scheduled for the morning session tour include: Deerpath Resort, Buckatabon Lodge & Lighthouse Inn, Torch Lake Campground & RV Park and Sunrise Lodge Resort & Restaurant. Registration will be at the Conover Community Center at 8:15 a.m. Following the tour, a luncheon will be held at Sunrise Lodge.

“What better way to start your day than with a beautiful drive through the fall colors of Conover,” Conover Chamber executive director Sharon Olander said. “The resorts you will be visiting are on lakes with breath-taking views and the colors will be an added bonus.”

The tour fee is $20 per person which includes coffee/rolls at registration and lunch (choice of spinach and garlic tortellini, pot roast crepe or cranberry, apple and brie stuffed chicken breast). Pre-registration is required no later than Friday, Oct. 4. For more information or a registration form contact a local chamber of commerce in Vilas County or call the Vilas County Tourism & Publicity Department at 715-479-3649.
