Dr. Kate Hospice Pro Am Golf Tournament on Aug. 26

July 16, 2019

The Dr. Kate Hospice Pro Am Golf Tournament will take place Monday, Aug. 26 at the Minocqua Country Club.

This tournament is a part of golfing and hospice history in the Minocqua area. The first year — 1985 — laid the foundation for a unique event among all golf tournaments with each team consisting of four amateurs led by a golf professional associated with the Wisconsin Professional Golfers Association (PGA). This was a winning combination — hospice and Pro Am — that has set this tournament apart from the rest.

Golfers are encouraged to register as an individual to be added to a team or to bring a full team of four. Registration fee is $250 per golfer and a spot can be reserved by contacting the Minocqua Country Club golf shop at 715-356-5217.

Through its association with the Howard Young Foundation, Ascension at Home provides end of life care regardless of an individual’s ability to pay. There is a particular need for financial support when a hospice patient needs the services provided by Seasons of Life Hospice Home as that room and board fee is not covered by Medicare and is usually privately paid. Through the generosity of donors and the success of fundraisers like the golf tournament, a reduced cost can be provided for those who are unable to meet the expense.

In addition to golfers, sponsors are currently being sought for the event with opportunities ranging from $5,000 to $200. Donations of items or experiences that may be used to raise funds through raffles and auction activities are also being sought.
