Drug Endangered Children presentation on Sept. 24

September 20, 2019

A Drug Endangered Children presentation will be held at 11 a.m. (or immediately following the county board meeting) at the Vilas County Courthouse, conference rooms B, C, D and E.

Vilas County Department of Social Services and The Human Service Center will present information to help make the public aware of the drug epidemic in the community and the work of the Drug Endangered Children’s Committee. There will be a viewing of the documentary entitled “Written Off” in conference rooms B, C and D. This story is about a youth straight from the Northwoods community and his battle with addiction.

There will also be a “Hidden in Plain Sight” Bedroom exhibit in conference room E that walks the viewer through a typical teenage bedroom. The bedroom is an interactive display offering adults insight into current trends in youth substance abuse, drug paraphernalia and clever methods of concealment of illicit drugs and alcohol. A guide will walk attendees through the exhibit pointing out the various methods of concealment.
