‘Echoes of Ella and Etta’ at Campanile on July 13
July 12, 2019
Vocalist Erin Krebs Sextet will present an evening of songs made popular by Ella Fitzgerald and Etta James from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 at Campanile Center in Minocqua.
The first set will feature a wide range of songs showcasing Ella’s vast and varied repertoire. In the second set, Krebs and her group will pay tribute to the one and only Etta James with soulful renditions of jazz standards, R&B, rock, and blues songs that Etta made her own.
In 2016, Jazziz Magazine wrote Krebs “may be a best-kept secret of her native Wisconsin.” It seems the word is out, as this dynamic performer is well on her way to becoming one of Wisconsin’s premier and most treasured vocalists. Ranging from sultry jazz stylings to bebop scat to belting out the blues, her performances exude confidence and a passion for life that audiences instantly recognize as genuine and heartfelt.
Recently, the Erin Krebs & Jeff Johnston Duo has been recognized by WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) as the “2018 Jazz Artist of the Year.” Krebs was also a nominee for “Female Vocalist of the Year” (2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019) and “Jazz Artist of the Year” in 2017.
Tickets are $22 in advance and $27 at the door. Full time student tickets are $15.
