Federal lawsuit filed over local public health authority

Local orders carry same fatal flaws as Safer at Home, lawsuit argues

A group of 17 Wisconsin residents have filed a federal lawsuit against various public health officials, maintaining that local stay-at-home orders have violated their constitutional rights. 

The local orders being contested were put in place after the state Supreme Court struck down the Evers administration’s Safer-At-Home order earlier this month. The court declared the order, issued by Department of Health Services secretary-designee Andrea Palm, exceeded her statutory authority.
