Firefighter 5K on Aug. 3

The 2019 Firefighter 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 3. The event has moved to Arbor Vitae as part of the fire department’s annual Firemen’s Picnic.

The day will start with a free Firefighter’s Children’s fun run where kids can run with local firefighters in full gear. 

The main event starts at 9 a.m. The 5K route will take participants on a loop course starting at the Arbor Vitae Town Hall, proceeds down to an old railroad bed, and then alongside beautiful Big Arbor Vitae Lake before returning to the Town Hall.

Adults will be awarded based on age group, with complimentary snacks and beverages to follow.

After the run, participants will have an opportunity to explore the fire trucks and talk to many representatives from the fire departments of Minocqua, Hazelhurst, Woodruff and Arbor Vitae. 

Student fees for those 18 and under are $25 as pre-registration or $30 on race day. Adults 18 and over are $30 pre-registration, $35 on race day. Firefighters are $15 ,and families are $90 for up to five members.

The kids race is free, but participants should register in advance.

Race packet pick-up will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2 at the Arbor Vitae Fire Department and on race day, Aug. 3 beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Arbor Vitae Town Hall.
