Feed Our Rural Kids (FORK) Inc, in partnership with the Northland Pines School District and the Sayner-Start Lake Chamber of Commerce, is hosting the Mid-Summer’s Night Ride.
The family-fun ride will follow two possible routes and will start between 3 and 6 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 8, from the Old School Park in downtown Sayner. The 5-mile ride will bike along the Heart of Vilas Trail to the Corner Store on Highway N in Sayner for entertainment and ice cream cones. The 25-mile ride will head to Cathy’s Ice Cream and Candy Shoppe on Highway 70 in St. Germain for special event ice cream treats and music, before turning around and follow the Heart of Vilas Trail to the Corner Store for ice cream cones. Everyone will then end up back at Old?School Park in Sayner.
This is a biking event to raise funds and awareness of FORK, and most specifically to affect the issue of food insecurity affecting hundreds of school-aged children within the Northland Pines School District.
Riders can go online and register at feedourruralkids.org. Early registration for all adults before July 15 is $35 for the 25-mile ride and $25 for the 5-mile ride. Kids under 18 are free and still receive an ice cream cone of their choosing. Event brochures, including the registration form, are available locally at the chamber offices in Eagle River, Land O’ Lakes, St. Germain, Conover and Sayner-Star Lake. Registrations can also be picked up in person at both the Corner Store and Cathy’s Ice Cream and Candy Shoppe.
