Hazelhurst Lions cancel 2020 events

May 01, 2020

After careful consideration, Hazelhurst Lions Club members have made the decision to cancel the following events in 2020: the three Sunday Morning Pancake Breakfasts — May 24, July 5, and July 26; Arts and Crafts Fair — June 20; Flea Market/Craft Show — Aug. 15 and Aug.16; Classic Car Show — Aug. 16; and the Golf Scramble — Sept 3. The sale of raffle tickets is also suspended.

The slogan of Lions International is “We Serve.” Hazelhurst Lions believe the community can be served in these uncertain times by honoring the guidelines of staying safe at home and social distancing.

The Autumn Arts and Crafts Fair, scheduled for Oct. 24 at the Hazelhurst Town Hall, will remain on the calendar unless the coronavirus continues to be a danger to the community.

Even though the Lions have cancelled this year’s fundraisers, they recently voted to make an additional donation to the Lakeland Pantry. From last year’s fundraisers they have been able to contribute to Lions Camp in Rosholt, Lakeland Hospice Seasons of Life, LUHS scholarships, NATH — Northwoods Alliance, for Temporary Housing, Pastimes Club, Northwoods Wildlife Center, and many other community needs. If anyone would like to donate to Hazelhurst Lions Club so they can continue to fund these and other community organizations and needs, send checks to Hazelhurst Lions Club, P.O. Box 383, Hazelhurst WI 54531.
