The Island City Mile is going virtual this year, on July 3.
The Island City Mile was established to help fundraise for the Lakeland Union High School Cross Country and Track & Field programs.
The Island City Mile will take place anywhere — on a track, on the roads, in the backyard, on a treadmill or anywhere else one can run or walk. The race has also been changed to 1 mile, not 1600 meters.
Race day is July 3 at 7 p.m., but participants can run the race anytime between midnight July 2, and midnight July 5. Those who sign up will receive an email on how to submit results.
The Island City Mile will feature races by division and gender:
• Open: Anyone is eligible for this division
• Middle School: Students who have completed grades six thru eight
• High School: Students who have completed grades nine thru 12
• Masters: Athletes aged 35 and older
No awards will be given this year; bragging rights only. All registrants will be eligible for door prizes.
Registration is online only at https://runsignup.com/
Race/WI/Minocqua/IslandCityMile, and closes at 11:59 p.m. on July 2.
Island City Mile T-shirts and custom souvenir bibs will be sent to all participants. The entry fee includes shipping of the T-shirt and souvenir bib as well as any door prize that might be won. An $8 donation will offset the cost of shipping and allow all of the entry fee to go to the Lakeland Union High School Cross Country and Track & Field programs.
