Lake of the Torches and the Lac du Flambeau BDC each presented a $2,000 donation during the VCEDC’s monthly Board of Directors meeting held Nov. 8 in the casino’s Hall of Nations Convention Center. Along with the donation presentation, the meeting included discussions on how to enhance the building and sustaining of economic growth in Lac du Flambeau and throughout Vilas County.
“We are sincerely grateful for the continued support we receive from Lake of the Torches Resort Casino and the LDF Business Development Corporation,” VCEDC chairman Jim Tuckwell said. “It’s through their continued support, and likewise the support from Vilas County, area townships and local businesses, that we are able to help businesses succeed and also work to attract entrepreneurs and businesses to Vilas County.”
The VCEDC is a 501C(3) non-profit that offers an array of support and services to help businesses be successful and grow. It also provides assistance in securing financing for aspiring businesses. The VCEDC also partners with Nicolet College to offer “Preparing For Entrepreneurial Success” classes with over 100 graduates to date, and which, through the help of the Juday Foundation, are offered tuition free to any Vilas County resident.
The organization is also active in recruiting entrepreneurs and businesses to relocate to the Northwoods, especially with the recent growth in broadband availability in the county. This allows professionals to work remotely and enjoy all that the Northwoods has to offer while pursuing career and business success.
“Lake of the Torches values its continued partnership with the LDF Business Development Corporation and the VCEDC to promote entrepreneurship and business development in the Northwoods. We all succeed when there is a healthy economic environment that attracts new business and employment opportunities to Vilas County,” Lake of the Torches director of marketing Leana Schlecht said.
“The Vilas County Economic Development Corporation complements our mission and vision statements,” said Randy Soulier, Chief Operating Officer of the LDF Business Development Corporation. “This relationship is essential to enhancing the area’s economy through attracting, developing or retaining skilled employment, upgrading infrastructure, higher quantity of entrepreneurial efforts and an increase in per capita earnings circulating in the region. Neither of these items can be as successful if we were to remain alone in the efforts.”
