The Lakeland gymnastics’ team traveled to Medford for a meet with the Raiders on Thursday, Feb. 6.
The Raiders won 126.1-85.95.
“The coach for Medford and his girls are so welcoming and willing to help a small team like ours,” coach Mikaila Walker said. “It was great to see the abilities and skills those girls had to motivate our ladies to want to try more skills, and better their routines.”
Two Thunderbirds competed in the all-around. Julie Neuberg finished in fourth in the all-around with 24.65 points.
Neuberg had three scores in the top five. She finished tied for third in vault with 7.9 points. She finished fifth in bars with 5.9 and tied for fifth in beam with 6.85 points. She also participated in the four, scoring a 4.0.
Anna Thompson was the other participant in the all-around. She finished fifth with 24.35 points. Her highest finish came in the bars, tied for sixth with 5.25 points. She finished seventh in the vault with 7.0 points, seventh in beam with a score of 6.35 and eighth in floor with a score of 5.75.
“I think with the increase of competitions we haven’t been in our gym working much, but these competitions are allowing the girls to notice and perfect their routines,” Walker said.
Anna Smith finished seventh on the floor with 6.1 points. Then she finished in eighth place in two other events. She finished tied for eighth in the vault with 6.8 points and eight in the bars with 3.9 points.
Cameryn Teichmiller had her best finish on the floor. She finished sixth with 6.4 points. On the vault she finished tied for ninth with 6.8 points and on bars ninth with a score of 2.475 points.
Katy Mueth participated in two events. She finished tied for seventh in the bars with a score of 5.25. She had a ninth place finish on the floor with a score of 5.7.
Vivian Callender participated on the vault, scoring a 6.05.
Up next, the Thunderbirds compete in an invitational on Saturday, Feb. 15 at Ashland High School. The invitational is set to get underway at 10:15 a.m.
