/ Articles / Lakeland Pantry expands hours of operation
In order to address the increased need and to focus on the specific nutrition needs of school-aged children and senior citizens, the Lakeland Pantry is expanding its hours. The pantry is now open from 8:30 a.m. until noon every Tuesday and from 3 to 6 p.m. every other Thursday.
The pantry staff wants to assure the community they are able to give more food at each visit while keeping visitors a safe distance from others. Visitors are greeted by volunteers who bring out bags of food to cars.
Food insecurity will increase as COVID-19 cases rise. Many citizens will qualify for assistance (e.g. a single person making $1,967 or less per month), so don’t hesitate to come.
Lakeland Pantry is not experiencing a shortage of food due to the pandemic. Frozen food is plentiful, and more single-serving meals tailored to seniors will be available. The pantry is also working with area schools to develop more food options that will appeal to students.
The pantry is accepting donations of non-perishable foods, but only during hours of operation. Peanut butter, jelly, mac and cheese, and Gatorade (to replace electrolytes) are needed. In addition, consider a monetary donation to the Lakeland Pantry, P.O. Box 470, Woodruff, WI 54568, or visit howardyoungfoundation.org and click on the “Donate” tab for online giving options.
