LdF Tribal Historic Preservation Office to share survey findings at open house on Aug. 23

August 20, 2019

After seeking input from community members through several meetings and a survey earlier this year to prioritize the protection of important places, the Lac du Flambeau Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO) now has a way forward in developing the Tribal Register of Important People, Events, Natural Places, and Historic/Cultural Places.

Come see the results at an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23 at the Historic Boys Dorm. Snacks will be served.

In 2017, the office received a National Park Service Heritage Grant to develop a process by which to nominate and monitor sensitive cultural sites that will be listed on the Register.

Anyone interested in learning more about the project may contact tribal archaeologist Cindi Stiles at 715-588-4382.
